Terms of use
Last updated 15 October 2026. We may update these terms from time to time; the current version is always on this page with its date, and continuing to use the service after a change means you accept it. Questions go to the support address.
The service
DW Online is an independent fan project made by players. The service is this website, the game server, the play page at play.dwonline.net and the Windows download, which together connect your own copy of Digimon World to a shared world: other players, the Guild's contracts, the Tag and Crests, standings and one save carried across your devices. By creating an account or using any part of the service you agree to these terms and to the privacy notice. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
DW Online is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to Bandai Namco Entertainment, Toei Animation, or any other owner of Digimon. Digimon and Digimon World are trademarks of their respective owners.
Your own disc
- You play with a disc image you made yourself from your own copies of Digimon World (USA) and Digimon World 2 (USA). This site does not provide the games or disc images.
- You are responsible for having the right to use any disc image you use with the service. The installer and the play page check the game and refuse any other image.
- Your disc image stays on your devices and is never uploaded.
Accounts
- You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. If you are under 18, you may buy Server Funds only with a parent's or guardian's permission.
- An account is a Tamer name and a password. An email is optional; it is needed to buy Server Funds and to reset a forgotten password.
- One person per account. Keep your password to yourself: you are responsible for everything done with your account. We never ask for your password.
- A guest account that is not kept with a password within 24 hours is deleted automatically, with its progress.
- Tamer names, display names and titles must not impersonate anyone or be offensive. We may change or remove them.
- We may refuse, suspend or close any account at our discretion, including to protect the service or its players. You may stop using the service and delete your account at any time on My Tag, Account, where you can also download a copy of your account's data.
Conduct
- Be decent to other players: no harassment, threats, hate, sexual content or spam, in chat, names or anything you share.
- No cheating: do not alter the game's traffic to the server, forge saves or progress, exploit bugs for advantage, automate play, or attack, probe or overload the service. Report bugs to support instead.
- Do not sell, trade or share accounts, or offer Server Funds or anything earned in the game for real money.
- Players can report, mute and block one another. We may warn, mute, suspend or close an account, and remove progress, items or Server Funds gained against these terms, without refund.
Saves and progress
- The service keeps your latest save so that you can carry on from another device, and keeps the shared records (the Tag, Crests, contracts, standings) on the game server.
- We keep backups and work to protect your progress, but we do not guarantee that saves, progress, items or records will be preserved: they may be lost, reset or rolled back, for example after a fault or to correct an error. Keep your own PC saves if they matter to you.
- The game's balance, rewards, items and content may change at any time.
Server Funds and virtual items
Server Funds are the service's virtual currency. They are earned by playing and can also be bought. Server Funds and the items, boosts and other goods they buy are a limited, personal, non-transferable licence to use content within the service: they are not money or property, have no value outside the service, cannot be exchanged for money and cannot be moved to another account. We may change prices and what Server Funds buy. Purchases are final except as described on Refunds and Server Funds or where the law requires otherwise.
You keep what you write in chat, names and anything you share. You allow us to store, show and transmit it as needed to run the service, and to remove it at our discretion.
The software
- The emulator in the download and on the play page is PCSX-Redux, free software under the GNU General Public License version 2 or later; its complete source is offered beside each download (Release details). Nothing in these terms limits the rights that licence gives you.
- The download's other parts carry their own licences, listed in the download and on Release details.
- Payments, delivery and protection of the service are provided with third parties (such as Stripe and Cloudflare), whose own terms also apply to your use of them.
Liability
- The service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, to the extent the law allows.
- We may change, pause or end any part of the service at any time, for any reason, including maintenance, security or legal reasons.
- To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential losses, or for lost saves, progress, items or Server Funds, and our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before it.
- You agree to cover us against claims arising from your breach of these terms or from your use of the service in a way that is not lawful for you.
- Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under the law where you live that cannot be limited by agreement.
General
- These terms, the privacy notice and the refunds page are the whole agreement between you and us about the service.
- If any part of these terms cannot be enforced, the rest stays in effect. If we do not enforce a term at once, we can still enforce it later.
- Notices to us go to the support address.
